Each change to 1 World Trade Center has been a real improvement. Getting rid of the base's chamfer edges makes the tower look more solidly footed, and omitting the fiberglass antenna sheath gives the spire more interest, its graduated platforms and steel framework now a futuristic finial of highlight and shadow.
The only disappointment is that mortuary-looking lobby of white marble. This entry should provide high drama, with beautifully illuminated horizontal bands of polished colored stone, an updated take on the lobbies of the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building. My choice would be some combination of black, taupe, rose and ochre. Sterile white, the lobby is deadly dull.
